The Adams Family
The 'Adam's Family' are some of my close friends and Adam's fans - not to mention New Zealands most passionate car enthusiasts.
Chris's 1932 Ford Tudor Hot Rod
New Zealand's Top Hot Rod? Cover Car and regular Top 10 at shows and Overall Top Car Trophy winner at the 2010 Americana event in New Plymouth - and yes it is driven.
I have been helping the owner of this Rods by Reid built car since it was built, before a show or event it usually gets a Clay Bar, DA polish with Adam's Fine Machine Polish (when it needs it) followed by multiple coats of Adam's Buttery Wax and finished with a coat of Adam's Brilliant Spray Glaze, the interior is treated with Adam's Leather Cleaner then Adam's Leather Conditioner, the awesome Budnik wheels are polished by hand with Adam's Metal Polish - so easy with our liquid polish, to finish the look the tyres are dressed with Adam's VRT gel dressing applied with a sponge. Russell's Plymouth Hemi Cuda
This amazing convertible is powered by a Supercharged Keith Black Hemi! and has one of the straightest body’s and best paint finishes I have ever seen.
I was asked for advice and some help to prepare this car for the 2010 Beach Hop, This gleaming black finish comes courtesey of a trusty DA polisher starting with Adam’s Fine Machine Polish to remove the fine scratching and spider webbing and get the surface perfect, followed with the hand application of 2 coats of Adam’s Americana Paste Wax, then a finishing coat of Adam’s Brilliant Spray Glaze over the paint and chrome. The finish was as close to perfection as you could get, so deep and clear that you feel like swimming in it! the outer photo's were taken with my Nokia cell and simply does not do this amazing car justice... middle photo courtesy New Zealand Hot Rod Magazine
Todd's (actually Mrs's) Fiat Topolino
A cute little machine and gorgeous in metallic purple. I flew to Christchurch to personally deliver Todd's kit after he was the high bidder in a fund raiser - awesome kit too. The paint was good but showing its age and hiddedn behind a lot of surface scratching. Starting with an Adam's Clay Bar to remove the surface contamination, then on to the DA polisher, first working the surface with Adam's Swirl & Haze Remover on an Orange Adam's DA Swirl Killer Pad to remove the worst of the scratching, this was followed with Adam's Fine Machine Polish on a white Adam's DA Polishing Pad. Finishing up with Adam's Machine Super Wax applied using the Grey Adam's DA Wax Pad, the final finishing touch being a coat of Adam's Brilliant Spray Glaze and VRT on the tyres. You have a cool collection Todd, I could have easily missed my flight and continued talking cars with you all night - and the last thing I expected to see was the fuel injection of my old alky dragster sitting on your bench!
John's Chevelle1970 LS6 454 4-speed - Is there a more desireable muscle car? John is meticulous in the care of his car - and it shows. 20-year old Cranberry Red laquer just gets better with age. Maintained with Adam's Fine Machine Polish applied with a machine when needed, and coats of Adam's Buttery Wax to protect the surface. Adam's VRT on the tyres and a quick Adam's Detail Spray before exiting the garage, shame to leave the GTO and 442 behind though!
Graham's Porsche 365 A
It would be fair to say that Graham is one if the key members of the Porsche Club NZ Concours team's 'Brain Trust', he keeps the paint on this beautiful 356 maintained by hand with Adam's Revive polish and Adam's Buttery wax.
Michael's Porsche 911T - NZ Intermarque Concours 'Top Team' member 2010
Here I am polishing Michael's superb Porsche 911T prior to applying several coats of Adam's Americana Paste wax, Mike's car was part of the 'Top Team' trophy winning Porsche Club NZ stable at the 2010 Ellerslie Concours and a reserve entrant for the 'Best Overall Car' class, Freshly restored in Christchurch, the 2010 Concours was the cars first outing. Michael is justifiably proud of this awesome looking machine and uses Adam's products exclusively to maintain the perfect black finish.
Greg's Porsche 911E - NZ Intermarque Concours 'Best Overall Car' 2009 and 3rd place 2010
The most surprising thing about Greg's Porsche 911E is that it is largely original and un-restored, this says a lot about Greg's skill and dedication to maintain this 911 to the highest standards - and the amazing capacity for attention to detail he possesses. A standout in green. Although only called up a few days before the 2010 concours, the paint finish only needed a minor polish with Adam's Fine Machine Polish and my favourate Adam's Americana Paste Wax and Adam's Brilliant Spray Glaze, not to mention lots of Adam's VRT on the rubber and plastic trim.
Mike's Porsche 356C - NZ Intermarque Concours 'Best Overall Car' 2010
In the first photo you will see Rodney from Rodney's Restorations (++64 9 235 9169) compounding the roof, Rodney's workmanship is second to none and he has produced far more than his fair share of Concours and Hot Rod Show trophy winners, a great guy too. We polished this freshly restored car with Adam's Fine machine Polish, and followed up with my favourite - 2 coats of hand applied Adam's Americana Paste Wax and Adam's Brilliant Spray Glaze to finish. A deserved winner of the 2010 Ellerslie Intermarque Concours 'Best Car' trophy and a credit to the lucky owner Mike and restorer Rodney.
Karl's Chevy Vega
Its hard to believe there was a 25 year absence of supercharged nitro-burning drag cars in NZ before Karl returned from holiday with Nitro Flashback in his suitcase, built on a Pleuger frame this Castrol sponsored Nitromethane burning 3000hp monster is a consistent 205mph plus car on the track, thats 0-206mph in 6.9 seconds! I have been crewing for Karl for a number of years, and plans are coming together for a second car to join the team. Adam's Buttery Wax, Detail Spray, VRT and Metal Polish are kept close by for this always-immaculately presented race car. You will see me standing to the left in the last photo.
Mike's Ferrari - 2010 NDRA Top Doorslammer Champion
Mike's always immaculately presented Ferrari has a great deal of history on the tracks in New Zealand. The gorgeous red paint kept immaculate with Adam's Buttery Wax and Detail Spray. The huge commitment you made this season with great driving, engineering and tuning earned you a well deserved (and overdue) title. I look forward to helping you have one of the best looking cars on the track next season.
I have known Parry for a long time now, his beautifully engineered and presented Camaro set a very high standard for looks, presentation and performance, it goes as good as it looks - or did, sadly a tragedy struck Parry toward the end of the last racing season with a hard crash doing a lot of damage to the car, although it looks like a write off; Parry is a very telented engineer and is re-building the car in his race shop, we look forward to seeing you return to the track very soon. Follow his progress on his website.
Mal & Linda's Corolla
I have known Mal for quite a few years now and known of his photography skills for many, when talking with Mal and Linda earlier this year Linda thought she would have a bit of a challenge for me, the original paint on her Corolla was very oxidised, I started with Adam's Clay bar to lift the surface contaminants, and followed this with Adam's Swirl & Haze, Fine Machine Polish and Wax using a DA Polisher. and VRT on the Tyres - great photo's Mal and probably a while since there has been a reflection that good in the paint! There is a full write up on renovating this paint in the 'How-To and Video' section here. Mal is an awesome and very well known photographer who has been around the Drag Racing and Hot Rodding scenes for a very long time, his website is here.
